A brilliant CalTech scholar was vacationing in the Lake Tahoe hotel of a snowy winter when a strange insect-dragon alien landed on Earth to create an adversarial debate-chess challenge regarding the 'real' value of human civilization IQ.

ALIEN: I shall cross through the dimension-portal called 'Stargate' to engage with this 'human-thinker' (Aldrich Killian)!

Now, this eerie insect-dragon alien from a faraway dimension and rather large height (7ft.) was very intelligent but also Machiavellian/nihilistic and intent on Invasion-agenda and would have to be 'persuaded' by debate-chess that Earth-civilization IQ was worth pardoning.
