Duke-UNC: Aliens of Stonewall(s)

A faerie-prince and a dragon Martian argue online about the Duke-UNC (basketball) media-rivalry and its 'revelation(s)' for Western democracy!

"
A love-letter for basketball in the United States, inspired loosely by the iconic film Hoosiers (Gene Hackman). Hope you like,
DISCLAIMER: I've no 'formal/official' ties to the teams/groups identified or cited in this work of sports 'fanfiction' and present this only/simply as a 'diagram/model' of sociocultural dilemma(s) in the West.

Prince Amlan was a huge Duke fan and a disguised 'faerie' (winged-humanoid of the forest with messages of wisdom) blogging about the 'iconic' Earth-sports (college!) rivalry between Duke-UNC (men's basketball), which reminded him of all the 'stalemate-chess' conditions that cast ideations of peace/democracy/media and war-daylights. However,  Martian was spying on Earth-civilization from the moon and also/equally noted this iconic/symbolic Duke-UNC rivalry and challenged Prince Amlan, the faerie-humanoid, to a Duke-UNC debate online (Facebook-IQ).

The Martian, a dragon-alien named Endymion, felt that the Duke-UNC rivalry captured some of the capitalism daggers of civilization competition-consciousness reflective of things like Cold War chess and education-culture investments in North America. Endymion himself decided to speak/debate on behalf of the celebrity UNC basketball team, since it'd produced legends in the pro-league like Michael Jordan and Rasheed Wallace. Meanwhile, Prince Amlan chose to champion the celebrated Duke Blue Devils who'd been the first-ever team to repeat as national college champs since UCLA (1991-1992).

ENDYMION: The North Carolina team 'defines' what makes sports-fitness and agility/strength great market-shine.
AMLAN: True; but Duke's defiant longstanding rivalry with them in the media-broadcast era of sports offers 'parallel' diaries!

ENDYMION: There's this great 1995 Duke-UNC game (double-overtime!) captured all the sentimentalism of the rivalry!
AMLAN: Yeah...that game went into overtime (double!) and the Tar Heels came in #1 while Duke was struggling that year.
ENDYMION: Duke's 'bounce-back' to champion-grit form since its last appearance in a winning title-game only led to ACC wins!
AMLAN: Yeah...Duke managed a 1994 title-game showing but lost and then continued its long streak of ACC successes.
ENDYMION: It wouldn't be until 2001 that Duke would win another title; and then again in 2010/2015.
AMLAN: That's right; North Carolina meanwhile garnered multiple titles too and continued to rival the Blue Devils.

ENDYMION: Doesn't it seem this iconic rivalry casts itself for politics/culture/media/education/war diaries, prince-faerie?
AMLAN: Yes it does; the Duke Blue Devils are considered the mantle-bearers of the UCLA glory from yesteryear and have it!
ENDYMION: The Tar Heels remained the only 'real' entertaining parallax for those consistently gritty Blue Devils (Duke).
AMLAN: That's correct, Endymion; this rivalry can 'speak-a-volume' about the 'quality' of politics-culture artworks for war.
ENDYMION: Sure; such a rivalry surely 'parallels' some real-world intrigue like Cold War chess and education-media capitalism.
AMLAN: That's correct, Endymion; I champion the Duke media-fans for ideations of sports-education denouncing violence!
ENDYMION: Perhaps they'll consider this argumentation between us a casting of the 'celebrity' of sportsmen UNC shined.
AMLAN: True; there's something 'mythic' about sports-culture ideations of politics-diagram analogies (for civilization-sanity).

Thus the dialogue between the faerie-humanoid advocate of Western civilization media-culture/status (Amlan) and the visiting/spying cunning dragon-Martian (Endymion) regarding the ideations of Duke-UNC media-culture sports philosophy/imagination revealed special 'magic' for Earth-IQ regarding chess-like intelligence concerning what made competition in human civilization a 'model' for great artwork(s). It was an argumentation between a faerie and a dragon, and in all good fairness, it seemed to be a rather 'discrete' stalemate destiny (really!).

ENDYMION: That shrewd faerie-prince managed to 'sway' me in this 'fantastic' Duke-UNC rivalry-casting for Earth-distance(s).
