Destiny Fields

Destiny Fields

A Story by Abishai100
"

Can a man and a woman debate (for journals) which 'field-game' sells more honey (baseball or chess)?

"
A toast to baseball loosely inspired by Mr. Destiny (Michael Caine) and featuring the anti-terrorism comics avatar Storm-Shadow (GI Joe), which I hope you like (and Happy Halloween!),

Now, it was known that the ninja-infiltrations operationalist Storm-Shadow, having defected from Cobra, had established himself already as a GI-Joe heroics-master in Northern Ireland (United Kingdom) and British Columbia (North America).

However, his newfound challenge was debating with his Boston girl (Sandy) about the comparative imagination-insight value of baseball and chess. Now, both games are sportsmanship-symbolic and democracy-relevant for modern media-broadcast era ideas about peace and social-media/networks and human activity, but one had become a field-sport of easy-going fitness while the other was a politics-field board-game of strategic piece-position movements designed like monarchy/kingdom roles and designated for fields of intelligence/computing. The sport of baseball had generated countless field-fitness memories like the 1990 World-Series (A's-Reds) which generated much social-media chat about underdogs usurping dominating teams recast in numerous video-games by Western youth!

The 1990 World Series A's team boasted a roster with a potent batting offense with a lead-sequence of batters any baseball-card collector would deem 'trophy'-like for rookie-card showcases, and meanwhile the Reds were not expected to simply 'zoom' past such a potent team of media-market savvy, having already won the title the year before (1989). This sort of field-fitness lore cast this iconic American/Western sport as a timeless toast to what made sportsmanship so 'ruggedly' marketable (yes).

Storm-Shadow considered this key 'trumpet' of baseball halls as he purchased a baseball-crafted figurine chess-set for his Boston girl (Sandy) to debate with her about which pastime/'game' was more reflective of the human-race. Sandy suggested the baseball chess-set simply signified a human agenda regarding casting competition-IQ through the 'vivid' lens of imagined field-drawings. She was right, of course. The baseball chess-set Storm-Shadow gifted her was quite a diadem of human-race ingenuity.

Storm-Shadow's real name is Amlan Satan, and he began to debate with Sandy about the comparable 'legend' of chess and baseball with her for the social media age.

SATAN: Cold-War chess rivalry between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky generated infinite wisdom!
SANDY: True; but the 1990 World Series between the A's-Reds is a fan-favorite (on YouTube), darling.
SATAN: Sure; but the ideations of stalemate-chess (tie/draw) between America/Russia makes fantasy!
SANDY: Yes, chess reflects war-realism/politics-IQ and computing intelligence, but baseball is vital.
SATAN: I concede baseball is likened to a Western/American 'shine' now, but isn't chess a 'human' trophy?
SANDY: I suppose you're right, since they made a movie about Cold-War chess media-IQ legends.
SATAN: Well, there's so many movies about baseball, but none are as 'symbolic' for politics as chess, right?
SANDY: You're right about that, Amlan...but consider how both chess/baseball remind us of mind-games.
SATAN: Wow...I guess that's rather 'delicious' for intuitions (for students of social-media); very sharp.

Who do you think is more correct, Amlan/Sandy? Is baseball a 'field' operation for human ardor? Is chess a 'windmill' for intelligence-computed studies of 'generalized' civilization? Chess may generate a peace-reflective 'stalemate' condition, but baseball games can go into extra-innings in the summer/autumn and remind folks of the 'sheer-splendors' of human-race democracy (wow). Amlan Satan started thinking about, for the first time, in his long career in terrorism-operations (GI-Joe/Cobra), which 'game' of fielding was more about the youth-fantasies of pirate-lore for Halloween --- baseball or chess. Which was more conducive to social-media ideations of 'cool' photo-journals?

SANDY: Fischer-Spassky media-television was 'quite' sharp, but summer-baseball on-field/TV is 'raw' money!

STORM-SHADOW: Maybe I don't care who's right; all's important is that Sandy's my 'shining' potion (ha).
