Amlan/Yang are recruited by the Bearcats-faculty to investigate the 'corruption' of a Reds-treasure (card) from the museum, tied to underground eggs.

Amlan/Yang were recruited by the University of Cincinnati's new private-investigations department to investigate the theft/loss of a very serious Reds baseball-card treasure from the university art museum exhibit during the autumn season and were headed to the Courtyard (hotel) to set up some pre-query WiFi research about the school, the surrounding city, and ideations of the 'chess' of social-media dialogue in the area surrounding art-sports links among fans/critics.

AMLAN: So all the clues suggest that a faculty-member worked with an 'inside-man' to replace the Reds-treasure with a fake.

YANG: Yeah, Amlan it's a fake alright, but it's just a downgraded quality replica of the original classic-era card; school-loss!

There'd been 'floating rumor(s)' surrounding potential blood-diamond smugglers in the Cincinnati area that year, and Amlan/Yang suspected the card-theft/loss/swap was some kind of veil for a blood-diamond operation involving an underground ring of treasure spoilers called Red-Mask, and Amlan/Yang wanted to interrogate a female curator of the university museum exhibit to see if she'd been 'cajoled' to turn her back while the theft was performed!

AMLAN: Fortunately, for this post-9/11 era, Cincinnati's Courtyard is a fantastic travel-journal for visitor securities (pro).

YANG: That's really true; in fact, this age of social-media ad(s) for hotels/dives is something our thieves have exploited!

When they interrogated the lovely Sierra of the University museum, they discovered she may've been 'blackmailed' by an anonymous social-media chatter who told her he knew of her 'ties' to some Dartmouth (New England) crime-story involving murdered faculty of whom she was in a circle of friends/family and made her feel like she'd been more wise to simply 'assist' this strangely dark proceeding. Amlan/Yang hid her in the Courtyard and drew the circle-WiFi lines to the appropriate University circles --- to a special restaurant called the Bearcat.

UNIVERSITY POLICE: This was a smugglers operation between corrupted faculty member and a blood-diamond ring in Ohio.

AMLAN: The message was clear, Yang my friend; this was an 'operation' for city-grid devouring, by the mouths of evil!

YANG: I suppose that's correct, man; let's go toast with Sierra with a nice comic-book shopping endeavor (before we depart).
