Philadelphia-4: Excellent ChessA Story by Abishai100Fan-presentation of 4 symbolic Series-appearances of the Phillies and why Western/American baseball re-presents Earth-energizers.
A fan diorama of American baseball in the media-broadcast era, inspired by the spirited film Angels in the Outfield and featuring this year's World Series 'underdog' Philadelphia Phillies who're surprising just about everyone on Earth.
DISCLAIMER: While this work of sports-fanfiction offers images/citations of the Philadelphia Phillies, it's purely a personal work/diary or catalog of citizen's fanfare and reflects no formal/official ties to the organization or incidentally specific/legal claims/expressions of the city itself; all the images therefore used in this diorama-presentation are meant for private memory. ----
==== This is my fan-diorama of the iconic 'City of Brotherly Love' Phillies (American-baseball) who've appeared in multiple World Series games in its spirited history. The diorama shall present 4 World Series appearances in particular/specific --- 1980 (win), 1993 (loss), 2008 (win), 2022 (ongoing)! ![]() My name's Amlan Satan, and I moved to the United States with my nuclear-family in 1983 and lived in Philadelphia for 4 years, during which time I became a Philadelphia 'boy' and developed my love of baseball and baseball-cards and eventually social-media blogs/tales of sportsmanship cheers. I share my Selfies with others who also share theirs with mine, but mostly those who're baseball (sports) fans! ![]() When I got older, I was eventually admitted into the University of Pennsylvania (Ivy-League) which is a real honor, since the Ivy League is considered the 'hallmark' of American educational excellence(s), and I met my wife there too, and we share our love of social-media (e.g., Facebook-chess). ![]() WIFE: The athletics-IQ/environment at the University of Pennsylvania reflects city-aura/investment(s) in sportsmanship. ![]() Living in/near Philadelphia has been a real gem of an experience, despite it some rougher areas, and its iconic South-Street features/reflects some of the multicultural spirit(s) of the great City of Brotherly Love (wow). ![]() Collecting baseball cards is half-the-fun of being a Phillies lifelong fan, and I boast some nice ones including those of Lenny Dykstra and Mike Schmidt, since, after all, the Phillies remind us why democratic sports/baseball elates the joys of a city's cheer(s) for the game that has come to really represent 'easy-going' pride and fitness. ![]() When you walk past Independence Hall in Philadelphia, you might consider why this city is home to one of the esteemed schools of the Ivy-League, and its designs and architecture reflect the moral fiber and Rocky-spirit of the city's great ideations of competition-sanity. ![]() Everyone likes the Phillies. It's simply that simple. You'd have to be a Martian not to be a Phillies 'super' fan (ha). ![]() The Phillies took the 1980 World Series in a 4-2 stunner over the storied Kansas City Royals. This was the Mike Schmidt era of Phillies-ball, and all Philadelphia baseball fans remember this one. ![]() The Phillies didn't return to the Series until 1993, when they lost a 'true' heartbreaker to the Toronto (Canada) Blue-Jays 4-2, in a 'fortune-reversal' scoreline of the 1980 excellence. ![]() The Phillies of the City of Brotherly Love then returned to the Series in 2008, when they simply took-down the Tampa Rays (Florida) 4-1, and everyone suddenly remembered that 'golden' Mike Schmidt era of Philadelphia-ball (hmm). ![]() Now, in the year 2022, following the Coronavirus-tribulation on Earth, I'm suddenly the new-gen adult social/media messenger of what's made Philadelphia-ball such a hallmark of Western/American sports-media/marketing. I'm now a post-Coronavirus 'ninja-blogger' of the Phillies-Series 'magic' and consider myself one of those lucky South Jersey 'angels' in the outfield for social-media (wow). ![]() SPORTS-WRITER: The Phillies boast great season-stats for 2022 but simply aren't as powerhouse/defensive as the Astros. ME: What a shock in American sports-media --- the 'underdog' Phillies 'shock' the Astros by taking a defined 2-1 Series lead!! ![]() Will the Philadelphia Phillies grab their 3rd World Series title this year, by defeating the powerful Astros (Texas) as a 'certain' underdog of American pro-sports? All good fans of Philly believe this is certainly a 'rosy' but 'truly-sane' exclamation...or declarative. My wife believes it'd be a real 'miracle' if the Phillies won this year, following the Coronavirus-tribulation on Earth (hmm). ![]() In any case, when I think of this magical/symbolic 'Philadelphia-4' line of Phillies World-Series appearances (1980, 1993, 2008, 2022), and I earnestly 'hope' they can grab the laurel(s) this Series against the powerful Astros of Houston, I start to think...Phillies Xmas-sweaters for gifts! ![]() WIFE: I'm buying him a special/fantastic baseball-figurine/themed chess-set/board for Xmas...especially if the Phillies win! ![]() "But remember this: in the final analysis, you can believe in your dream, you can be taught, supported, motivated, and loved by others, but ultimately, your success depends on you. You must take responsibility for your body, your mind, and for your character" (Mike Schmidt). ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2022 Abishai100 |
