Imagine Faeries: Asterisk

Imagine Faeries: Asterisk

A Story by Abishai100
"

Narrated tale of a man's quest for magic/superstition in a traffic-burdened world, drawing 'chess' like ideations of 'drawn' senses (or the Ego).

"
An exposition on the 'superstition'-mindset of the sensitive/sensitized human mind/consciousness, inspired by the exquisite film Photographing Fairies (Toby Stephens), which I hope you like,

I lived out of the Wingate (Hotel) in North America with my princely inherited fortunes and made cyber-comics tales about patriotism and terrorism lore and dangers and started feeling jaded about all the Earth-race complications involving commercial governance for lifestyle sanity, and even the comforts of my 'hotel-abode' started to feel insufficient (wow).

I thought about myself and my place in the world and in this Selfie/social-media culture and my childhood love of chess-play and how it fostered an independence feeling in my mind, and I wondered what I'd do to recover that feeling amidst this certain adulthood jadedness in this cyber-culture of Selfie-driven overground 'normal' conversationalism normalizing new age traffic-tremors/dangers like 9/11 photo-journalism.

Modern Earth was filled with as much smoke and fire as it was with tales of cyber-friendship and networking and cool conversations on the World-Net, and I needed some cool lights to make me feel closer to this capitalist human race and all its fraught-danger 'quality' of dark expression (hmm).

I found the revelation-escape with my Catholic faith and then through readings of 'faerie'-lore, first expounded in the mainstream by Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who began writing about how beliefs in these 'fantastic' faeries on Earth, tiny winged humanoid messengers of magic and omen dwelling in the forests but offering ornamented messages of shine and superstition (wow).

"For the most part, amid the busy commercialism of modern times, the fact of their existence has faded to a shadow, and a most delightful and charming field of nature study has too long been veiled. In this twentieth century there is promise of the world stepping out of some of its darker shadows. Maybe it is an indication that we are reaching the silver lining of the clouds when we find ourselves suddenly presented with actual photographs of these enchanting little creatures relegated long since to the realm of the imaginary and fanciful" (E.L. Gardner).

I started to believe in the existence of these 'fantastic faerie' creatures re-presented in sightings and folklore and apparent (but ultimately reportedly 'fake') photos of these tiny winged beings, inspiring some pretty great art/media even in the modern world. I wondered why we'd want to believe in their metaphysical whimsy and existence, and perhaps the answer is in some claustrophobic senses in our own minds in this traffic-heavy world of 'eerie' troubles lurking like 'aliens' with hostile intent and suggesting we need an 'ethereal' contrast of some forms (ha).

I thought about a special social-house at my Ivy-school during which I gained a deep appreciation of the surrounding environment of New England and why I loved Nature itself and perhaps why I'd imagine that social-house was somehow 'inhabited' by strange and magical 'angels' of guidance or friendship and how I'd even think of likening myself to these guiding-forces/lights which would (eventually) draw me to my current fascination with faerie-lore (wow).

Imagine if Martians invaded Earth and made themselves look like humanoid beings of high-intelligence but savage confidence/prowess and presenting forms of warlike imagination and casting themselves as extremely competitive individuals resembling 'street-gangs' with costumed/cosmetic overbearing grudges. We might 'wish' we'd be closer to faeries if they existed than these hypothetical 'war-street gang' humanoids from Mars with a more 'martial' consciousness regarding everlasting race-exchanges. What's the nature of the mind, anyways? Is it one of prowess or liberty? What do you think?

If faeries are real, would I want to befriend a beautiful female faerie, see her grow to my human-adult size and fall in love with me? Surely, we've known of such fantasy in myth/folklore as with Catholic angels or Mediterranean mermaids of the sea 'sighted' by weary-eyed seamen/sailors. What do such 'hallucinatory' wishes represent? How does it 'parallel' our love of 'cool-confidence' activity in the modern street-world like calming chess or relaxing/thrilling video-games or even comic-books (ha)?

I got myself some Eagles-fanfare gem-cufflinks for a woman I'd hope to meet online after all these faerie-ponderings, thinking what I really needed was some comfort-food manly romance/hospitality and preparing for her a Valentine's quiche-and-wine dinner to complement this diamond-Eagle women's cufflink present. That's what I think I need --- the gumption to feel more like a vibrant Romantic (aha).

GIRLFRIEND: You got me a football-figurine chess-set?
ME: Yeah, check out the Queen-piece in this iconic kingdom-themed strategy/thinking board-game of IQ-meditation!
GIRLFRIEND: Yeah; it's a 'cool' female football cheerleader, honey.
ME: That's why I thought you'd like this present --- you can 'pretend' you're that cheerleader-Queen piece; design your moves.
GIRLFRIEND: That sounds fun...but why football?
ME: Why not?

I got married and had a son (Damian) for whom I got (for his birthday) a special 'Strike-Force' pro-football spirits team-transfer post-Eagles career Randal Cunningham Viking-QB (Upper Deck) 'original' red-color edition sports-card 'treasure' and thought he'd liken the 'shine' of it (someday?) to my described fascination with the existence of faeries (wow).

DAMIAN: This card's really great dad --- Cunningham went to the Viking-team after his Eagles-career to try to win the Bowl!
ME: Yeah...he wanted so much to gain that Super Bowl title, sonny --- this card's the 'perfect' sports-broadcast trophy, no?
DAMIAN: It's really magic, daddy.

JOURNAL: I had dream-sleep vision in which I imagined I was 'visited/haunted' by a 'faerie' and wondered about Realism too.
