The Hand-Faerie: Dartmouth

The Hand-Faerie: Dartmouth

A Story by Abishai100
"

An 'American Homeland' portrait of unsung heroics and everyday-life messages of 'real' courage and traffic-emotionalism.

"
An optimism portrait about antiterrorism inspired by FairyTale: A True Story (Harvey Keitel). Happy V-Day!

A major US Navy official was concerned that 9/11 trauma and paranoia in the Homeland would create 'stranger' forms of superstitions and 'faerie-tales' among Americans concerned about 'inventive' storytelling and drawing away from the practical reality of life and perhaps 'resurrecting' the imagery of World War trench soldiers 'mired' in hallucinations of 'angel-sightings' on the battlefield, which concerned the Navy officer who'd been more pleased if he read more 'field-excellence' training intelligence praise commentary concerning American security forces in this age of terrorism and politics-complexity cinema in Hollywood reflective of a 'hard-nosed' human will to transcend the 'fantastic' troubles of Earth (hmm).

However, perhaps this Navy-man was 'too' hard-nosed about applying the hard realities of endurance of 9/11 paranoia and was therefore drawing the interest of a teenage girl in America who'd been a fan of cartoon and faerie-tale posts/comments on social-media and who'd been approached (herself!) by a real-life forest-dwelling 'faerie-girl' humanoid 'creature' named Ana who wished to inspire the teen (Ezzy) to make some 'fantastic' antiterrorism faerie-tale 'arts' on the cyber-highway for her friends and teachers in the United States (wow).

EZZY: I dunno what I'd say about 'faerie' assistance or guidance for terror!
ANA: Think wholeheartedly about the quality of Homeland safety (for you!).
EZZY: Should I talk about 'paranoia' during Xmas-shopping created by 9/11?
ANA: Perhaps a teen-shopper at an American mall (like yourself!) finds courage with a faerie hand-maiden (like me!).
EZZY: This is all so scary, Ana.
ANA: That's the test of Earth (now) --- art can help us 'deal' with myth(s).

Ezzy was truly inspired. She thought about all her Homeland luxuries and amenity/comfort living as an 'American aristocrat' and how her daddy would take her sailing on his yacht on Saturdays in the summertime, and how she'd want to offer some 'spiritual message of charity' for the Homeland in this post-9/11 era of social-media fanfare/use/commentary regarding the pedestrian 'flair' and convenience and photo-energy of life's 'normal' living traffic activities/psychology (ha).

Ezzy met a precocious young artist on a cyber-forum, a Dartmouth assistant professor and psychology student turned cyber-artist/writer named Amlan Satan (aka, 'Shadow') who used a special 'alien-invader' media-themed chess-set/board to create cyber-presentations of Homeland 'invasion' paranoia storyboards and intelligence responses by the American security forces/armies/Navy complemented by 'fantastic' comics-characters heroics.

EZZY: It's an 'alien' world of Earth and inspires stranger creature-arts, right?
AMLAN: That's true; my work at Dartmouth concerns 'framing' of fear-factor(s).
EZZY: That's pretty cool (wow).
AMLAN: It's cool...but dark (too).

EZZY: Maybe what you need is a 'faerie' guide to hand-guide you for more joy.
AMLAN: Sounds like a 'cool' promise for an enthusiastic teen cyber-surfer/poster.
EZZY: I'd like to go to Dartmouth someday (maybe).
AMLAN: That's a good dream; maybe you'd major in psychology/art (like me!).
EZZY: Maybe I've a 'faerie-hand-maiden' who gives me great joy, Mr. Satan.
AMLAN: Call me Amlan; I've been generating 'child-view' comics hero-characters (like faeries!).
EZZY: Can 'personality' in creativity build courage for the Homeland (now)?
AMLAN: Why not...isn't this a 'balloon' Earth (after all), Ezzy?
EZZY: Sure (yeah).
AMLAN: Thanks for this chat (stay cool).

This pensive (if eccentric) Dartmouth teacher/artist (Amlan Satan) offered something to the precocious modern social-media user/poster and 'American aristocrat' (Ezzy) a certain magical 'sense' of grounding her fantastic visions into real cyber-activities and arts and presentations of the nature of human 'lift' and the color of varied emotions expressed in symbols and artworks. Perhaps a right 'touch' of 'faerie-tale' is what would bring an artist in the Homeland (e.g., Amlan Satan) to a greater 'courage' regarding the potential of social-media/cyber-highway use and traffic as a 'machinery' for citizenry-commentary about antiterrorism executions (wow).
