Kingdom-HelloA Story by Abishai100Shelbye Conlon examines her past in the UK and how a 'memory' of drama/romance might 'draw' an 'image' of American honor.
A vignette about remembered romance and the 'sportsmanship' of commerce-life defense in modern Earth, inspired by the politics-dramatism and dark-realism themes from the excellent 20th-Century film The Boxer (Daniel Day-Lewis). Happy St. Patrick's Day!

==== Shelbye lived comfortably now in her idyllic suburban New England home with her gorgeous Irish-American (Catholic!) family and started to remember her days when she was a schoolteacher and volunteer-nurse in poor-troubled Belfast, Northern Ireland (United Kingdom). She lived there for a time with her Irish granny (Kara Conlon) and met a strange bookshop manager named Amlan Satan, an Algerian-American who moved to Northern Ireland to work some mysterious double-life involving the veiled diamond-market, and she began to remember him, how she became his nurse/lover, and her current/currency life of comforts and securities in the New World (United States). ![]() She wrote in her secret journal, "I remember that man I loved (for a time!), this stranger in crutches who owned a bookshop in sectarian Belfast and tried to sell/market/hype/praise soccer and football comic books to Catholics and Protestants (youth) who'd visit with their parents, and I remember trying to become his 'angel-nurse' while he lived his secret 'double-life' as a diamond-smuggling and insurance-corruption operator/writer (with some Interpol-relation), and today, I think about sharing my dream of a much more secured/safe life in New England with my girlfriends on social-media and what I tell them (now!) about my darling Irish husband (Joe O'Leary)." ![]() She had a revelation to visit Belfast (Northern Ireland) for the month of June that summer following her journal writings and landed in Dublin and took a train to Northern Ireland and commented about her experience of 'remembering' the United Kingdom 'troubles' on social-media (wow). ![]() SHELBYE: I decided to visit the Belfast bookshop where the man in my yesteryear life of 'religious dramatics' became my sweetest heart, and where I learned of his 'James Bond' double-life securing gem-market insurance/securities facilitating improved economics-condition talks in Parliament (with some Interpol-relation) regarding affirmative-action employment assistance literature/circulation (wow). ![]() Of course, Amlan Satan was no longer at the bookshop where Shelbye became his lover and part-time volunteer nurse, learning about the drama of people 'drawn' by the modern troubles of commerce/economics driven inter-religious coexistence 'complexity' in the modern Earth, which surely would draw the interested eyes/mind of even a Martian --- given all this 'field-potential' in sportsmanship/storytelling and the 'contrast' of the darkness of failures in community erection/direction (hmm). ![]() BOOKSTORE OWNER (Current): No, Satan's departed Belfast (as we know). SHELBYE: You've no 'clue' (whatsoever) what's become of that mysterious fellow? OWNER: None at all; some customer told me he saw a website featuring his work. SHELBYE: What did the site show/inform, sir? OWNER: I dunno...that he may be in Omagh...or heck, Zurich, operating gem-storages. SHELBYE: That's it? OWNER: There was a 'sideshow' gossip-line that he'd become a blood-diamond swap-maestro for securities-media lore. SHELBYE: But this is all just cyber-hearsay, sir? OWNER: Right, Miss Shelbye; we all miss him (even his 'eccentric' pals past Interpol!). ![]() What Shelbye decided to remember during this 'emotional' visit to Northern Ireland (United Kingdom) was the huge 'hole' in her life created by the now-departed/vanished mystery-man of Belfast (Amlan Satan), a guy whose family-heritage ties to the FLN movement in Algeria during French-rule moved in him a stranger form of commerce-culture 'mobilization' and detective-work for progress in Catholic-Protestant economic-coexistence excellence (wow). ![]() SHELBYE: When I was Satan's nurse, I used to think about what he meant when he'd charm me with his delicious Irish foods/cooking and what he wished to tell me regarding his 'Algiers-past' and his Interpol-distance current-life of diamond-securities worry and why I'd thought of myself as something of an 'angel-nurse' to his rather brooding...and (arguably) damned poor soul. ![]() When Shelbye decided to return to her American life of comfort and happiness (New England), she thought about the turns of life/fate that direct the course or shape of society/culture, in a 'troubled' place like the modern United Kingdom (Northern Ireland) and why her 'examination' of her own past-life, with Amlan Satan, as an 'angel-nurse' of a difficult direction, invoked in her some of the 'gratitude' she felt now as a happy-Catholic, living comfortably (and safely!) in the American Homeland in the post-9/11 era and 'dreaming' of her memory of sharing 'magical' sweet-potatoes (with hearth!) with the 'mystery-man' who'd now become something of a 'helter-skelter specter' for a hard journal (ha). ![]() "Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone" (John Maynard Keynes). ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2023 Abishai100 |
