Chicago's Hamlet

Chicago's Hamlet

A Story by Abishai100
"

Can Amlan Satan achieve a haunting-transcendence in Chicago and find laurels-of-love through a 'capitalism' fencing?

"
A modernized/adaptation of the iconic redemption-tale of Hamlet (Shakespeare).
====

Amlan Satan remembered reading Shakespeare at Dartmouth when he'd settled down into his post-grad life Windy-City apartment and used his inherited fortunes to invest in Wall Street when he started 'hallucinating' the haunting image of his dead father's ghost, King Hamlet himself.

He wondered why he'd dreamt he was 'witnessing' the passing specter of his haunting dead king father as he otherwise focused on his post-grad Wall Street life of cyber-investment work-from-home and spent idle-time enjoying the life of an American yuppie with his beloved college-girlfriend (Ezzy). His father died of alcoholism-related complications and passed before his 'time' and left-behind a fortune for his mother and himself, and his mother remarried (the King's own brother!). This moved Amlan Satan to dream-up some self-defense metaphysics tale to 'ward-off' the haunting-spirit of his dead father, the old King, worthy of a classic storybook (undoubtedly!).

Amlan Satan had considered himself a modern shrewd American Earth-prince of capitalism-fortunes and liked the social-media Homeland culture of post-9/11 era commerce-life/securities and liked investing in various Wall Street companies and started to make a 'killing' in 2009 with Ford and shared his fortunes with others on social-media (hmm).

SATAN: Am I idling time away while ignoring the advice of Ezzy?

Ezzy, meanwhile, shared Amlan's passion for social-media activity and sports-fanfare and liked using his Wall Street earnings to invest in the excellence of various iconic American teams like the Eagles/Bears/Vikings, and when questioned by the paranoid Ezzy why he'd felt 'haunted' by his dead-father's vengeful/alcoholic spirit (or presence!), Amlan replied to her eerily, "You're my angel of fortune, and I shan't let this dream-darkness cloud my social-media commerce-life vision of what'll catch all the dazzle/laurel(s) of my Homeland capitalist race life of lifestyle triumphs, Ezzy!."

So, Prince Satan had decided to become something of a social-media commerce-life 'messenger' of the fortune-diadems/tokens of capitalist race lifestyle to 'ward-off' the haunting specter/presence of his dead father's Kingly ghost if only to remind him that his life (now) was focused on the future-vision consumerism 'splendors' of self-made American Homeland comforts, refusing to let this 'tragedy' hologram cloud his examinations of 'pure' capitalism. He decided to make a large pile of collected thrown-out sneakers/shoes from various places/sources (e.g., Goodwill stores), so when he saw his father's ghost (again), he'd retort to the specter, "I've all the ambition-clarity now, father, to wager that my own choices (in Chicago) shield me from any 'dark-vanity' of fortune-material (ha)."

KING HAMLET: I've no certainty what your sneaker-pile signifies, Amlan.
AMLAN SATAN: I'm like Peter-Pan to your haunting Captain Hook, father.
KING HAMLET: Are these shoes 'reflections' of your devotion to fortune?
AMLAN SATAN: Excellence; they suggest a bond to Ezzy and liberty!
KING HAMLET: What's the significant-value of this capitalist-chess?
AMLAN SATAN: With these shoes, I leave your memory as with crayons.
KING HAMLET: Fortunes for the boy create a portrait of a damsel (ha).

"Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone" (John Maynard Keynes).
