Portrait of an ethnic-American whose 'study' of YouTube sports-magic draws him to Lisbon where he discovers a 'strange-potion' of homework.

I decided to take a much-earned journey to Portugal (Lisbon) after discovering some 'YouTube-magic' regarding the flowery/pageantry of world-soccer in that faraway Euro-land of great culture/color and serving as an 'alternative' to its much more 'storied' tourist-destination (Spain).

My name's Amlan Satan, and I'm a graduate of Dartmouth (New Hampshire) and decided to see what I'd learn about Portugal (Lisbon) after being much-intrigued by the YouTube world-soccer (sports!) videos of a 'special' Portuguese soccer-superstar (Figo) and suddenly found myself wanting to see what kinds of metaphysical comments I'd offer on social-media regarding the intrigue of this Euro-land and what I'd share with others interested in travel because of their multicultural heritage. Although I'm not Caucasian, I've lived in America all my life and am a US-citizen (Catholic-faith) and never considered going to an 'exotic' place like Lisbon to share ideas about travel-image on social-media.

Anyways, I went on this journey and landed in Portugal and decided to get some cool fan-books and photos and artworks about the great (retired) soccer-star (Figo) and began to expand my brain to embrace the culture/cuisine/colors of Lisbon and found myself drawn to this examination of world-culture experience/vision all because of 'YouTube-magic' (United States).

Figo was a great star, having shined brightly for both his national soccer team (Portugal) which saw a great emergence in 'chess-excellence' as he rose to great media-age prominence, while the star himself saw 'equal' success shining for the very celebrity-loaded Spanish club Real-Madrid. This was what drew me to Lisbon --- the concept of 'foreign' celebrity (sports!) creating interest in a 'regular' social-media 'surfer' who wished to discover a 'special' image of Earth-race headiness (ha).

The design and interiors of the various buildings and places and 'dives' in Portugal are quite extra-ordinary, and I took photos of special places (like this one 'heady' restaurant) which I wanted to share on social-media with my mother (Nina). She's a great chef, you know.

I met this 'incredible' woman in Portugal in authentic dress and sporting a very 'fancy' culture-gown and needed to ask her why she felt so 'intrigued' with the pageantry of heritage-showcase. I told her as an American, I simply didn't 'indulge' in history-presentations of life-colors as she seemed to like. She told me that she found my 'social-media interest' rather handsome and considered my 'tourist-IQ curiosity' rather child-like and then explained her sense of heritage-pride reflected a modern media-age 'love' of everything...high-art. I believed her. I was now intrigued by Portuguese old-world fashion (ha).

When I returned to New York (JFK), I emailed Nina (mom) and told her I 'made-love' to a gorgeous Portuguese woman in a very fine culture-dress and she told me that I was embracing all that was simply traffic-confidence in this new age of negotiations in transit/travel securities Ego. I knew my conclusion then --- YouTube-magic had taken me to the 'height(s)' of Earth's special humility (wow).

is this a simple tale of travel-journalism or exposures in the beauty-magic of YouTube 'examination' drawn world-culture education/enrichment/Romanticism? I think not; in fact, I think what I discovered in Lisbon was a true capitalism-race 'sense' of all that's simply 'hospitality' in our modern age/world --- self-work.
