A portrait of Philadelphia's 'face' for Xmas-metaphysics and superstition-misadventures tied to a 'creature' transformation requiring a family's extra credit hand.

An Xmas-season fanfiction of one of my favorite movie-franchises, Gremlins (Joe Dante) ahead of Christmas-in-July for this Homeland post-9/11 era of humanly good-wishes!

Philadelphia ('Philly'), the iconic American Homeland City of Brotherly Love is where a lovely teacher-couple (Amlan/Ezzy) lived (happily) with their child (Desi) and hoped to offer her something 'extra-magical' for the Xmas-season. That's just what they'd find in this special tale of city-misadventure and the metaphysics/superstitions tied with Earth's special or unique hospitality. Follow along!

AMLAN: I've grown up in Philly, and I want the best for Ezzy/Desi this Xmas, so I'd share this season's spirits with others in the Homeland area for the consumerism-heavy season (wow).

Amlan met Ezzy in college, while living in Philadelphia, and he was seeking to build a 'good' life of comforts/warmth and magic in this City of Brotherly Love. He remembered growing up collecting Phillies cards (baseball!) and now wanted some 'new' magic in the post-9/11 era alongside his darling (wife) and their beloved daughter (Desi); perhaps he'd share 'stuff' about discovery about superstitions for Xmas in this 'inventive' age of social-media imagination 'tied' with a Homeland highness.

DESI: Oh, mom/dad, I know this Chinese restaurant man, a wizard (I know it), who 'swears' he's this special (magical!) creature called a 'Gremlin' in his place, and if we buy the 'being' for Xmas, I know I can share the gift and friendship with my friends at school; and mom can talk about it on social-media (like Facebook!).

Ezzy was highly-wary of giving-into this daughter-heartwish of procuring a special 'creature' from the Chinese-eatery sage at the restaurant where they visited/frequented for the year, and Amlan wondered just what this 'man-of-mysticism' had to offer for his small nuclear family for that shopping-season (Chinatown).

SAGE: I see your family's 'bright' with Xmas-season spirits/magic and wishes.

AMLAN: My daughter wants that 'Gremlin' creature as a friend/pet as a gift, sir.

SAGE: Alright; but be wary not to 'indulge' in pedestrian spiritualism for intemperance.

AMLAN: I've always been a prudent/Catholic man of Philly, sir!

SAGE: Good; there's plenty of magic-hysteria around in this post-9/11 era (no?).

AMLAN: Sure (heavens).

Well, the Gremlin-creature was now the good buddy of Desi, daughter of Amlan/Ezzy, who took the 'being' home with them (secretly!) from the Philly-Chinatown eatery where they frequented that year as happy-family customers/patrons. However, would the family tend to the temperance required for the 'good' care of the creature-being (hmm)?

DESI: Mom, mom, the Gremlin's 'changed' into a horrible/ugly troll!

AMLAN/EZZY: Goodness; we must've fed it too much candy (or something).

DESI: It scurried out my bedroom window and vanished (my God).

AMLAN/EZZY: We'll have to report it to police...lest we find a way to 'catch' the troll (ourselves).

Well, the 'hero-family' had realized the only thing that frightened/subdued the troll-mutant, who shape-shifted from the 'adorable' Gremlin-creature the Chinese-restaurant 'sage' sold/gifted them just one-week earlier, was some kind of acid-mixture, which is precisely what Amlan cooked-up for his weapon to corner/subdue the troll-mutant --- for his water-gun inserted with a thin-glass tube (for containment!).

AMLAN: "May this Xmas 'misadventure' be our 'final' bad-decision governance."

SAGE: So, you 'trapped' and cornered the troll-mutant (anti-Gremlin) with your acidic water-gun 'weapon' and returned the 'creature' of magic to me (now)?

AMLAN: This was a dark Xmas-season misadventure, sir (I'm sorry!).

SAGE: You've learned something 'invaluable' this shopping-season of treasures (no?).

AMLAN: Excellence; this post-9/11 era Homeland requires extra credit humility (ha).

SAGE: Good; America's the 'place' for highness lore (good).

Thus ended quite the 'examination' of humbling truth for the small nuclear family of the city of Philadelphia, and the 'Gremlins' misadventure would be recounted by Desi years-later as an 'education' in the quality of 'American' hospitality (for headmasters!).
