Portia's Rush

Portia's Rush

A Story by Abishai100
"

A mod-adaptation of Shakespeare's story of debt and rescue, and romance blended with 'radish' (set in the Windy-City/USA).

"
A modern adaptation of The Merchant of Venice (Shakespeare), with a 'cool' (if modest!) attempt at that 'classic' language-arts of folk-storytelling rose-rhyme (set in Chicago!),

PORTIA: "What a city of height; my fair Antonio doth shine bright; me thinks he gets in the way of an evil investor; the water reveals a special 'image' for my hand, rushed by the 'force' of right (perhaps)."

Now, the fair Portia truly was the great faerie of the Windy-City of heights, and her fair prince of this city of might, the mighty Antonio, who'd fall in great debt to the investor-baron (Shylock), a man with a beard, a religious conception of sternness, and an unforgiving manner for his unpaid debts in diamonds, repaid with Antonio's gift of gem-cufflinks, which Shylock swore (now) was 'taken' by the young prince's hand of wrong (and Hell).

ANTONIO: What am to do/say, my Portia; for this Xmas-party at bank approached?
PORTIA: You stole those blood-diamonds (a 'fair' swap) to 'gift' for Shylock's repayment cufflinks (of blood)?
ANTONIO: Excellence, Portia; I thought the party was my road to self-rush from Hell.
PORTIA: And that's why you'd be the man who fell (to Earth), goodness.

SHYLOCK: "Who'd conceive I'm just a mere investor 'celebrity' of this Windy-City of Bulls-Bears markets of righteous fortune of this post-9/11 era landscape of fear and beard, for I'm the great Shylock, arguably cast in the halls/stage of American storyboards, for a sternness for this 'arrogant' Antonio and his cufflinks of questionable scandal, and I'm to be his 'movie-monarch' of pity...and compromise my own screen of heaven (wow)."

Poor, poor but fair Antonio who managed a 'swift' cufflink-retribution 'trick' to escape his Chicago-debt from Shylock but was 'suspect' in this street-lore of certain disrespect, and now Portia's become his 'rush' of heavens-rescue, and perhaps (arguably) Portia's own rush-hand would cast a special 'magic' for all that's social-media culture 'friendly' for the fine/madness of youthful 'American' hospitality (ha).

PORTIA: This is but a meager case of hearts waged against thorns.
SHYLOCK: What's this 'shrimpy-pizza' before my eyes in this social arena?
ANTONIO: We're to share this shrimp-pizza delight for negotiations!
PORTIA: It is true, Shylock; share the pizza but do not (ever) taint your sharing with food-crumb spills/tickling.
SHYLOCK: If I (and Antonio) do?
PORTIA: Then you'll see the lens for that 'screw' for which the sharing reveals the mutual gift of treasures kept private --- as with your 'Chicago's' cufflinks (for all).
ANTONIO: A fine rating.
SHYLOCK: Let's to it, prince of Windy-City lore.

What the princess of do-gooder brains had known (all along) was that Antonio was a 'very' fine eater, and quite prudent with his table-manners despite his longtime 'romance' with the delicacy of Windy-City pizza, a 'secret' with which Portia had obtained a special/genius 'wrought' from the social-media culture 'flowery' of personality in everyday highness (ha).

ANTONIO: How'd you 'cook' such a delight in chess, Portia?
PORTIA: I thought of you (my prince), and the 'shine' of my dress.
ANTONIO: Excellence; be 'repaid' in my love-gifts of silver-and-dread.
PORTIA: Fine.

My goodness, how'd the fair and shrewd Portia achieve such a might for her lovely lad Antonio in this city of darkness/intrigue, in this post-9/11 era 'backdrop' of greed...and anti-light? Well, the couple would share a following Xmas-snowy Chicago horse-carriage ride of pre-marriage chat, and all the while, Antonio (our prince) would disclose his own heart-secret to his future-bride --- one of snowy reason (for all).

Thank you folks for following (along) in this 'tale' of Chicago's hand of 'rush' for the examination of what would make the prince (Antonio) a man-of-fortune, and his faerie-heroine (Portia) his 'secret' lady of superstition. For this couple would go onto safe-living and comforts of Homeland confidence, in this post-9/11 era 'shadow-age' of vanities/fears, surrounded by the 'noise' of Earth's terrorism, and perhaps 'enjoy' a lovely-light of cinema (arts!) in the casting of what makes the Westerner an adventure-caster for 'yarns' of pure rush and hellmouths (wow).
