Satan's Obsidian: Bartleby

A cool Chicago heist-tale involving a frustrated writer, Obsidian superstition(s), and a 'deed' for Homeland art (for the Ego).

Amlan Satan was dissatisfied with his life and thought about his great adoration of the Melville story Bartleby, the Scrivener (about a stranger bureaucrat whose idiosyncratic 'cubical-rebellion' in a typical office-world highlights some of the anti-establishment ideations of self-made Utopian paranoia) and wondered if he'd conceive of a realistic/analogical 'image' of civilization outrageous 'deed' in this modern claustrophobia prone social-media world of commerce/traffic-life 'handshakes' veiling post-9/11 era Homeland 'paranoia' concerning everyday life/consumerism winks (for the Ego).

He'd no 'real' reason to feel this 'Bartleby-paranoia' in his Homeland (Chicago), since he'd been married (happily) to Shirley Mara, a schoolteacher and cyber-homeschooling artist from Haddonfield (Homeland-Jersey) who adored Satan's praise of online chess-play and diagrams of educational games/competition for which Mara sought 'diagrams' for her own student-lessons about self-made intelligence 'confidence' for her online students. In other words, this 'Bartleby' of the Homeland's Windy-City (Amlan Satan) seemed, in every sense of the brain, a 'normal' man of chess and dreams (sure).

MARA (Shirley): Your 'claim' is one of self-wrought angst concerning American life?
SATAN (Amlan): Sure, Shirley; indeed, there's a deep scar in my heart about woe.

MARA (Shirley) Concerning what/whom?
SATAN (Amlan): Can't say, Mara...there's a 'stranger' form of walking sadness.

MARA (Shirley): I wonder if my school-teacher life offers you an image of peace.

SATAN (Amlan): Undoubtedly, Mara...but I need some 'complement' for journals.

What was this complement for our protagonist 'Bartleby' (Amlan Satan) of the modern Homeland (Chicago)? He decided to order some superstition-offering 'Obsidian mineral-rocks' from the Internet and kept them in his shelf alongside his wife's beautiful ballerina-artworks and told her that the Obsidian would gift him some 'view' of what his currency-angst about American claustrophobia could be 'complemented' by some excellence-deed for creative wizardry.

SHIRLEY (Mara): Well...Earth-magic is all about 'wrought' readings; Obsidian rules.

He found the deed (indeed)! Satan ('Bartleby') marched into a Chicago bank and into the safe-box area where a rumored social-media 'famous' blood-diamond baron named Goldfinger was storing conflict-zone gems (Sierra Leone) for insurance-veils for capitalism-race piracy in this post-9/11 era Homeland. Amlan decided to become a Robin-Hood (secretly) and was costumed as a street-theater artist with a toy water-rifle prop-toy claiming he was sent by Goldfinger's diamond-market rival(s) to create a social-media bank-box area photo-shoot for an insurance-claim 'message' about treasure storytelling and was escorted to the safe-boxes by a guardsman (Leo), after he inserted his toy water-rifle with bank-restroom made HCL (acidic) water!

BANK MANAGER: We've no 'clue' pertaining to the motive/hand of this Robin Hood.

INTERVIEW: Well, seems Goldfinger's rival(s) got the hand for insurance-writing!

BANK MANAGER: He was costumed as a street-artist and snuck out the bathroom.

INTERVIEW: His 'claim' concerned a prepaid insurance-stunt (Goldfinger empire)?

BANK MANAGER: Indeed; we 'think' this guy's some insured-gem stuntman for hire.

INTERVIEW: Wow, maybe we'll see some 'copycat' costume hype on social-media!

BANK MANAGER: That's Chicago's Obsidian-superstition --- Earth-stone wizardry.

INTERVIEW: This 'Robin-Hood' fella left-behind Obsidian chips in the bank-box?

BANK MANAGER: A 'deed' for social-media 'artist' waves (no?).

Our 'Bartleby' (Amlan Satan) had achieved a small 'magic-deed' for blood-diamond insurance-veils corruption heroics, moving Goldfinger's men to create a 'needed' gem-insurance marketplace social-media commentary once street-gossip flew about this rivals being behind this 'prepaid stunt' for 'insured-treasure' theatrics inside the bank, and the guardsman who escorted our Bartleby (Amlan Satan) into the bank-box area was (himself) 'gifted' the toy water-rifle prop-gun (his 'acidic' lancet) as a 'statement' about insurance readings (wow).

SHIRLEY (Mara): Why'd you do it, Satan?
AMLAN: For the miracle gesture and self-conceived Utopian fantasy, Mara.

SHIRLEY: Are we in (any) danger (now), Amlan?
AMLAN: No, no; this was a laboratory-stunt for acid-warfare for blood-diamonds.

SHIRLEY: You opted out of a life of writing for this deranged Chicago heroics?

AMLAN: I needed this, Shirley...something in my heart was eroding (for beauty!).

SHIRELY: Alright...I'll keep your 'painted' secret (sure).

AMLAN: You're my faerie (ha).

Why'd our 'Bartleby' decided to transform himself into a single-season Robin Hood for blood-diamond heroics in the Homeland (Chicago)? Well, as he explained to Shirley Mara, his darling/wife, there'd been something 'acidic' in his heart concerning post-9/11 era (American) corruption/worry, and after he achieved this 'Utopian' trophy for modern chess, he mailed Baron Goldfinger a 'cool' sports-media reflective college-athletics figurine doll-toy with the note, "Everyone likes the 'image' of insured consumerism wives, Goldfinger (wow)."

Did Satan find that inspiration for wrought heroics in the Homeland (Chicago) from his prayers linked with Obsidian magic-rock superstition(s)? He really believed he did (just that!). Shirley Mara had to agree with him, and our Bartleby-fellow of Utopian paranoia decided to take some of his Obsidian rock-chips to the Windy-City cemetery and buried it with a prayer, "American rulers offer us a view for the 'game' of life's eternal weeds (an 'escape' from sadness)."

SHIRLEY MARA (Journal): "I think my Bartleby-man (Amlan Satan) found something truly original/inspirational from his Obsidian treasure-collection, and after achieving this fortune-for-miracle in our challenged Homeland (Chicago), he may've become something of a 'stranger' eco-warrior (for the soul)."
