Phoenix Bends

Phoenix Bends

A Story by Abishai100
"

A 'dashing' American couple seeks a southwestern 'wage' for a gem-insurance legend and must 'face' the force of alienation.

"
A 'cool' adaptation of the 1994 remake of the classic Peckinpah graphic American crime-psyche landscape 'diorama' The Getaway (Roger Donaldson). Enjoy (and Happy Labor Day!),

Amlan was persuading his lady-friend (Ezzy) to seek this special southwest journey for an engagement with the blood-diamond baron Ion in his Phoenix estate and was prepared to make a 'sports-trophy' image trade for social-media insurance gem commentary that would complement his gem-swap heist at the southwestern jewelry store in which the Ion-company was making diamond insurance veils in the post-9/11 era Homeland, casting Amlan as a sort of 'musketeer' of social-media culture oriented 'consumerism-life' readings (for materialism!).

EZZY: Sounds dangerous; I'm to dance/distract Ion while you do the gem-swap?
AMLAN: Inside the estate but after the store-heist which won't concern you.
EZZY: You're bringing that special absinthe and persuading him yourself to drink.
AMLAN: Excellence; we'll cheer the deed afterwards with a cyber-photo mosaic.
EZZY: Social media compatible 'vigilantism' for diamond-chess; dangerous!
AMLAN: Don't you trust me, Ezzy?
EZZY: I married a writer...not a 'magician'...but ok (fine for social media).

Amlan/Ezzy hopped into their 'borrowed' white classic auto and sped to Phoenix (Arizona) to match Baron Ion inside his own estate and do all the tedious work to infiltrate this blood-diamond insurance 'chess-anarchy' in the Homeland in this new millennium, hoping to craft themselves as road-adventurers, and Amlan assured his (darling) Ezzy this was that 'sideshow' inspiration for his writing(s) of American crime/psychosis that would inject cool Romanticism (for consumerism-materialism) into their 'American' lives (wow).

BARON ION: I anticipate a satisfaction for this 'trophy' of sports you tout.
AMLAN: I'm eager to make for 'discovery' of a gem-lord's house of art(s).
BARON ION: Cool.

BARON ION: I don't trust this 'merchant-class romance duo' right now!
ASSOCIATE: Want me to send Fred to intercept...and test their mettle?
BARON ION: Sounds good; if they end up being babes-of-toyland, kill.
ASSOCIATE: Don't trust much, eh?
BARON ION: I grew up poor and with lousy toys; I detest consumerism-IQ.

Baron Ion was no small customer in the 'world' of blood-diamond chess and insurance corruption works/journals, and this 'dare' posed by the offbeat hero-duo of Amlan/Ezzy would (perhaps) offer our social media and consumerism/traffic culture that 'classic' magazine-sense of wrought capitalism-race vanities for securities (for 'underground' journalism).

Amlan performed a midway(s) heist at the gem-outfit in which the exuberant Ion-company was making trade(s), and he left small glass-beads for a media-gesture after achieving the 'deed' as a masked/claimed street-theater performer reading, "Cheer the 'rascal' of diamond's material game(s), for a Phoenix sunrise/set!"

Fred, the evil minion of Ion, dispatched to 'test' the mettle of Amlan/Ezzy, found them at a Courtyard (motel) and tried to shoot Amlan. 'Prince Amlan' reacted (swiftly) and used his silver-silencer to shoot Fred in the foot, forcing him to crawl into his car and to a nearby vet-office for immediate treatment (hmm).

FRED: You two make for such a 'darling' vet-med couple of the southwest!
SHELBYE/JAMES: Thanks, troubled man.
FRED: I'm going to shoot Dr. James and steal Shelbye and make her my ally.
SHELBYE: What?
FRED: Now that I'm cured, I'm set for social-media comics-photo boasts (ha).
JAMES: This man is (purely) evil; not a comic.

Shelbye accepted the offer in James' horror. She sped off with the evil Fred and sought retribution for Amlan's swift target-shooting by the Courtyard. Shelbye, an Irish-Catholic vet-assistant was a European mail-order-bride and turned out to be a woman 'waiting' impatiently for a life less ordinary for Phoenix. She and Fred found Amlan/Ezzy at a diner, reading some magazine about Eastern-saree fashions.

BARON ION: You've arrived!
AMLAN: We got past your man Fred.
EZZY: What a creep, Ion.
BARON ION: You escaped...so you've passed my (required) examination.
AMLAN: Alright; but Fred came with a lily-of-hell (Shelbye O'Hara).
BARON ION: What happened to her?
EZZY: After we shot Fred, Shelbye fled away in Fred's 'borrowed' auto.
BARON ION: Ha, sounds like you've proved an Atlantic-City photo-merit.
AMLAN: Alright.

With 2/3 of their 'dashing' Crusade almost completed, Amlan/Ezzy finished their little mission inside the Phoenix/southwest estate of Ion and persuaded him to accept their sport-trophy image exchange (for a social media insurance commentary about consumerism), a Sabatini (Argentina) pro-women's tennis spirits youth-fanzine oriented 'memoir' of the upstart athlete's 'cool' defiance of the then-indomitable Graf (Germany) in the 1988/1990 US-Open Finals.

AMLAN: We darted away from that estate with the cool we began with, Ezzy.
EZZY: We sure got that Ion creep drunk; farewell to Fred (too).
AMLAN: You were fantastic, Ezzy.
EZZY: Now you trust me!
AMLAN: Hey, we'll get another Sabatini material (for our daughter).
EZZY: Cool.

JOURNAL: "Crime is a 'world' of hellmouth(s), and my 'deed' for social justice and inventions in American daring/valor proved to be an offering for the psyche-chess of Homeland's consumerism/confidence, but what I shall recount (mostly) is that 'spice' for intelligence created by/in this dominion of social-media culture reflective 'traffic' bends (for religion?)."

"Doing well is the result of doing good. That's what capitalism is all about" (Ralph Waldo Emerson).
