"There I was in Sochi for the '18 World Cup (soccer) tourney after finding fanfare of the great passing/kicking nets field game in the American Homeland as a follower of college-athletics and women's US-national team successes as a male of sports-writing culture in the 21st-Century, cheering for Croatia against host-country (Russia) in the quarterfinals (Facebook-like!)."

"This was a little before the inception of the full-blown invasion of Russia into the Eastern European nation of Ukraine, which was admonished by my Western world. Well, the '18 World Cup quarterfinal 'show' between Croatia and Russia saw Croatia win in overtime on penalty-kicks elimination (4-3), which was nice 'premonition-counterpoint' to Russia's offense-face in the Ukraine-invasion (wow)."

"I recounted as a young boy cheering for the upstart Monica Seles (of Yugoslavia) challenging the once-indomitable women's pro-tennis titan Steffi Graf (of Germany) in the '92 French Open tennis championship after becoming her only-true rival and upstart-defiance lady of grit/offense; and this was a time when Seles saw those varied 'troubles' of '90s Yugoslav-Wars that eventually saw the breakup of Yugoslavia into smaller nations (e.g., Bosnia, Croatia, and others!). Of course, I didn't know 2 decades later, Croatia would take-down Russia in the '18 World Cup for soccer in the Russian host-country (wow). Sports culture/commentary had become something of an Earth-grids/nets commentary for lifestyle and jardinieres of social media and networks for 'intelligence-hyperbole' for rhetoric and commerce/exchange/customs (sure)."

"Well, the '18 'show' between Russia and Croatia was really something of a bound-Romanticism for those of us adults of our 'fare-rich' Blue Planet writing (liberally?) about incomplete-arts of sportsmanship-windows 'linked' social networking and exchange(s) for rhetoric/imagery. Russia wanted Croatia out, but Croatia kept the tie-score 1-1 into overtime and then won on penalty kicks (4-3) to advance to their first-ever World Cup final, just some years ahead of Russia's offensive into Ukraine (ok)."

"Of course, I knew of the long-legacy of relations between America and Russia, from the Soviet Union to the expansion of capitalism handshakes to the development of world-exchanges/handshakes from the co-invested International Space Station (wow). I somehow felt all this work with sports 'ghost-magic' for exchanges-rhetoric would somehow story-tell the 21st-Century 'troubles' of networking challenging our new Earth 'image' of hospitality/commerce driven politics bled into (consumerism) lifestyle for the 'confidence' of manmade bureaucracy-arts of goods/production conversations for world-resource competitiveness (e.g., OPEC). This was my Selfie age of life and politics borders somehow almost made invisible! What would the ghosts and saints of this age of our 'fare-rich' Blue Planet share about the bread/fruit of all things not necessarily immortal?"
