A thoughtfully religion-friendly smalltown values 'view' of the colored 'quarks' of music and endurance, in this Paul Schrader film adaptation/write (short).

"
My adaptation of the iconic American music-values film Light of Day (Michael J. Fox). Thanks so much for reading,

Amlan and Ezzy had made a terrific smalltown outing with their music and their shared rock band as affable and idealistic and part-time working siblings and worried about their cancer-stricken mother and their financial woes that turned Ezzy to a life of small-time thievery to get music supplies and food for her babe-son from her first/failed marriage. Amlan kept worrying about the ethics/value of her emotionally troubled sis Ezzy and insisted she lean on him and their band, the Busters, for some musical link to finding ways into Heaven (Facebook-like).

EZZY: Trying out for the Huns.
AMLAN: The Huns?
EZZY: Yeah, I know they sound weird, but they're cool and make lot of dough!
AMLAN: You worried about your son, but I've reconciled with my factory-boss.
EZZY: It ain't enough, brother...and mom's sick, and I want out of this town!
AMLAN: Hey, hey, hey...you sound like someone who needs therapy but's quitting.
EZZY: No one quits a smalltown, Amlan my friend; the Huns are my fate, not IQ.
AMLAN: Sure, but you take off, I keep your son as his surrogate-dad, no chat.
EZZY: Whatever, I doubt you're a daddy-type; and mom needs you too.
AMLAN: Facebook-like (for Heaven/Hell).

Amlan and Ezzy ended up parting-ways and Ezzy learned of their mom dying of cancer and went to visit her at the hospital, promising her she'd remand her wayward ways and continue to visit her son with Amlan her brother somehow despite touring now (successfully) with the Huns. Ezzy felt an overwhelming need to honor the promise and lied and told her mom she'd do so after playing with a lighter Amlan had gifted her on her 21st-birthday. Well, Amlan was around to watch her mom die, but Ezzy had taken off (again).

AMLAN: I can't believe you came back for the Busters reunion concert, sister.
EZZY: You doubted the Busters were forever...smalltown gods favor resilience.
AMLAN: Sure, but we don't live in Belfast or something, no?
EZZY: I promised mom, lied, and decided to change everything and came to you.
AMLAN: Well, the town felt God that night, and the Busters felt like good-past.
EZZY: My son's thrilled...and he's lucky to have you as a relative, brother.
AMLAN: That's life on Earth; and you get through the midways for the bread.
EZZY: For the music, right (Facebook-like)?
