Insanity/Defense: Zeros

Narrated view of a psychiatry-man whose lone-mission to reign-over two lost souls, his own patients (for care), brings him to edges-of-qualities.

A criminal insanity case may offer some illuminations concerning the incomplete-arts of human mind controls of social civics/records intelligence and has provided some key ideas for varied forms of storytelling, and I'm closing out my '26 Jan.-Tuesday writing here with an insanity-defense fiction.

Amlan had worked as a pensive and thoughtful psychiatrist in the American Homeland for some-time, but when two of his patients who worked with him through Internet-connected video at his hotel-station in New England, an older-gent and a relatively young woman (Marcus/Danielle), confided in him about their hellish criminal/insanity behaviors and deeds for story, something in Amlan snapped. Now, Amlan prowled around as a masked hero, vigilante, vowing to catch the two insane Americans at-large, wandering around undetected and unreported, determined to violate patient confidentiality to save real lives for real social/media commentary (Facebook-like!).

AMLAN: Always like to hear you confiding in me about your fears and wrath, man.

MARCUS: Good, doc (thanx...as always).

AMLAN: This claim you like making drawings of psychos in human-skin masks?

MARCUS: Yes, Americans with distorted/deformed face-lines (masks!) for crime.

AMLAN: Is this inspiration, Marcus...or something internal not for sale (hmmm)?

MARCUS: I'm not a horror-cinema character, but I'm getting 'genius'-flashes.

AMLAN: What do you mean/say?

MARCUS: Maybe someone ought to become one of these doodle-faces, doc (ok).

AMLAN: What (Facebook-like)?

AMLAN: You should hear the testimony in-confidence of my other patient, lady.

DANIELLE: You like my claim here, doc?

AMLAN: Courtyard video-conference for your shrink-care is my ultra-care, lady.

DANIELLE: Thanx, doc.

AMLAN: You hear of these street-gossip words of killer with human-skin mask?

DANIELLE: Sounds like some horror-cinema copycat, doc (in America/Texas).

AMLAN: And you?
DANIELLE: I told you about my consciousness (already).

AMLAN: You have dream-sleep images of drugging/decapitating policemen.

DANIELLE: Just in the state-of-Providence, doc (damn).

AMLAN: You need a hero in your life, for citizenry-reflection (Facebook-like).

DANIELLE: Who cares?

Amlan took to the streets in a work off-time 'mission' to find and catch his two patients who confided in him about a nature-urge to indulge in the most deformed-imagination of criminal-insanity (damn). He put on a mask and took a home-made tranquilizer-gun to find-ways to get Marcus/Danielle into heavy-incarceration, hopefully not having to kill either of them. During this cross-state trek for misadventure, Amlan made (anonymous) cyber-blogs with vigilante-comics inspired stick-figure doodles about a hero-psychopath duo and named himself...the Quarterback (Facebook-like!).

DOCTOR: You had to almost kill Danielle?

AMLAN: She had a tied-up cop in an abandoned warehouse in the East Coast.

DOCTOR: And of course you, the hero-here, swooped in (like an athlete!).

AMLAN: Selfie-like (for 'American' Halloween).

JOURNAL_NOTES: "The defense of insanity is almost an ancient word of story/text...and invocations of stories of soothsaying mad-women priestesses and psychic-wannabes with rapture-fantasy and modern-day 'rogues' with determined eyes of pity-seek seem to (still) invite care-givers that deep/dark/disturbing challenge-helmet to link insanity-treatment with (simplified) 'kinesthesia' for doubt...and that's not incomplete-truth when a doctor (or priest) may think of his/her own Earthling (American?) Selfie-culture lines of keratin (for medicine)."
