One whole year, a love so strong.
Through it all, to him, she felt she belonged.
On again, off again, it went throughout the year,
‘Til, finally, he called with an ‘I love someone else, Dear’.

Devastated, she tried piecing her heart back together,
Thinking ‘How could he do this to me?’ she tried to move on.
With her heart seemingly back in place, she dated another,
Only to use him as a mere pawn.

Without warning, the feelings for the other came back.
She hurt her pawn without meaning to.
Her heart began to crumble, the tears she did not lack.
But, she couldn’t bring herself to tell him ‘I love you, come back’

As her relationship ended, she gazed on the other with love.
No matter how much she tried, she couldn’t rise above
The love she felt for him everyday.
But, alas, he didn’t feel the same, so she kept her love a secret

Day after day…
Forever and ever….
Until the end of all time…
