Death or life

Death or life

A Poem by Addy

You returned.
And with you came a whole company
Of pain and rage and worn love.
And a choice was in my custody.

A choice to live or die.
But it wasn't that easy.
Don't blame me or ask why,
Because I promise you will see.

With life came regret
Because it was without you.
But life with you was a losing bet,
That I could never afford.

With death came joy and wonder,
wonder at what you were.
And I marveled at my blunder,
To spend my death with you.

I like your last stanza here. Good write.

Beautiful, but very sad, it has a romantic-tragedy sort of feel to it. Soft, gentle words but words that hold a lot of power and conviction behind them. Nicely written.
