Bomb of a ManA Poem by Adster
The incessant ticking of my knee, The countdown of a restless leg As a reminder of energy unused and untapped. My head, it needs to split like the atom To liberate the surplus life of this life. A flash of vibrant emotion, A surge of wild abandon Brought about by a roar of freedom For that which lingers in this mineshaft Of precious, simple being. Prometheus he had it easy, a purpose. I have no Eagle to eat my liver, Just chains of lethargy and a rock, Comfortable, safe and unchallenging For this restless and unfocused mind. My heart sings inside a sound-proof cage, My artist hands twitch and drum in granite gauntlets My mind is bound in an Iron Mask of dull awareness. This needs to be remedied, This silence must be broken. Let me leap, to scream atop the mountain, To swim against the current, to soar in the sky With Prometheus’ Eagle Where the world embraces me In it’s endless horizons. © 2008 AdsterReviews
