Vision of FaeriesA Poem by Amanda
I sat among the dusky trees,
So blissful in my thoughts,
I did not notice that the breeze
Brought visions it had wrought.
The silver mist soon filled my sight,
My gaze looked full upon
The faery people gay and bright
Who danced all on the lawn.
Their clothes were of the finest silk
And trimmed with softest fur;
The maidens’ skins were white as milk,
Their scent, the finest myrrh.
They seemed to float above the grass—
Their feet ne’er touched the land!
The pond seemed as a looking glass,
Reflecting faces grand.
I saw the queen, all crowned with dew,
And dressed in jade sateen;
I wish that you had been there, too—
Her dress you could have seen!
The sky turned gray, and morning came;
I wished that night would stay,
So that I could watch with acclaim
The shining, glorious fey.
