Breaking free from bondage

"

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free, My God, My Savior has ransomed me. Not only are those the words in a worship song, but they are the words God revealed to me during a worship service this week. As I stood there during worship and as we began to sing a song called, Isn’t He. I worshiped with my arms wide open, my head bowed down before Him, I began to declare victory within my family. As I prayed that the things that have been spoken over my children that were not of Him be washed away, God began to fill me with His spirit. The atmosphere was filled with the presence of God. It was like the room was empty and all that was there were me and God.

Demanding that the curses would be removed and the glory of God be revealed within my house, that the fire of the Lord be put upon my husband and children as well as myself. The presence of God was there in such a mighty way. At that very moment I heard God speak to me and say, the chains are gone. Suddenly I became filled with the spirit of God. An utterance of words began to flow from my mouth that in the natural I had no idea what they were, my legs started to shake, and the tears began to flow from my eyes. Right then I knew healing was there. I knew the bondage that the enemy had over my house and my family was broken.

We must be careful of spoken words. How many times have we ourselves said things to our spouses or our children that were not of God? I remember getting upset with one of my children for something they did and telling them that they were stupid for doing that. The feeling of guilt instantly took over and I had to apologize to them and show them how much I loved them, that they were very smart people. How much they were loved and wanted, not only by me but how God loves them so much.

Over the years people have spoken many things into all of our lives that were not of God. Gods word says: The tongue can bring death or life, those who love to talk will reap the consequences: Proverbs 18:21.

These chains I speak of are not just words spoken to others, they are also subject to other things, like the lifestyle you live, or an addiction that is not of God. I call it bondage. How many times have you prayed to God to deliver you from those things because you knew it wasn’t of Him? Yet on the inside you feared living without it. Addiction comes in many forms, from being addicted to a certain drug to having an addiction control.  How many times have you said to your kids you’re just like your father or mother? Knowing it was not a good trait to have. I know I have done it more than once.

We as Gods children must be careful of the chains we wrap each other in. We must begin to speak the word of God into our loved ones. Ephesians 4: 29-32  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ Jesus forgave you.

When you hear others speaking those things, you need to rebuke them and their words instantly. Do not let anyone interfere with what God has already created as His own. If we as Christians would be more aware of the chains others put on our lives or the lives of our families, or the things spoken into others that are not of God, then there would be a greater amount of confident men and women and children of God. The world in its self has nothing to offer our children.

I have children in school and I see the many things our teenagers are going through. I see the different lifestyles and religions that are trying to pull our children into their world.

It is very naïve to think that because we live for God that we or our families are exempt of these things. If anything we are more of a target of the enemy then anyone else. The enemy has no time for the ones that he knows already have no faith in God. Satan wants the ones who are going to make a stand, the ones who are going to make a huge dent in the world with the word of God, the ones on fire for Christ.

It’s time to start taking this seriously. Satan knows what God has called us for and what He’s called our children for. So let’s not assume that our kids are free from his chains because they’re not. God requires us as His people and as parents to know what’s going on in the lives of our children. To know what lifestyle and trend they are getting into. If we become more aware of these things and prepare our children ahead of time of what kind of danger lies within these trendy lifestyles, then we have a better chance of protecting them from those kinds of things.  Don’t be afraid to pray with your kids as I was at one time, or to teach them the difference between good and bad or right and wrong in the eyes of God. God requires us to teach them the way of Christ. Proverbs 22: 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Do you understand that Satan has no good things for our life? He comes in many forms to deceive us for his own greedy purpose. John 10:10: The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

Allow God to break those chains in your life or in the life of your family today. It’s time to stomp on the devils face and let him know that in Jesus Christ we stand.
