GuardianA Poem by Aleyah
You used to be my guardian, Keeping me from harm, Protecting me through wretched fires, I was safely in your arms. You used to walk beside me, My virgin hand in yours, You guided me through the darkest forests, I’m forgotten, fading to the core. Your heart beating against mine, The best I’ve ever known, Please just tell me why again, Your heart turned to stone. Your whisper calls into the night Longing for me to stay But the dusky, warning shadows Slowly whisk me away. “I love you, beautiful,” you said to me, Every day that passed, I remember your eager face, Every kiss you dared to cast. Tenderly you mentioned, “I will never leave,” But countless times I've watched you go, And every time I grieve, For you and your arms to hold me. Before you're gone once more, Leaving me lost and torn. Your fading voice departs, I stand alone at your door. I'm crying out-- “where have you gone?” You don't hear me anymore. © 2011 AleyahFeatured ReviewReviews
