I Loved, I Listened, and I Lost...A Poem by Alice Mayesan old poem I wrote before I finally found love in someone else, but I wrote while next to the person I am writing to in this poem (My ex gf is not the person I am writing to in this)Is it cheating if it's love, is wrong to have such a deep urge for you? I've loved you from the start, you found a way into my heart, yet I don't have the guts to say it. I know you're in a bond, but then why am I so fond of every chance I can see you? Your smile and laughter brings warmth to my eyes, every word from your mouth is always a surprise. You're funny, kind, and talented too, oh God why do I want to be with you? Aa is nice, nothing against her but it nearly broke my heart when you said the words, "I'm in love with her". I see you with her, looking all starry-eyed, And I wonder if you ever think of me on the side. Do you feel my longing, my silent shout? Or am I just a shadow, you don't think about? Still this fondness grows deep inside me, hoping one day you'll turn around and see, the ugly truth I've kept for so long, I think love you, way too strong. Would you give me a chance, could I have this dance? Even if we just stay friends, just one moment, then it'll be the end. © 2025 Alice MayesAuthor's Note
