Who's In Control?

Who's In Control?

A Poem by Alice Mayes

Mirror, mirror, on my wall
Am I really in control of them all?
I watch them fight, love, and reside
In this head where reality gets pushed aside
There's a dragon, cats, a man with too many eyes
A young little girl who says we scream like the skies
Two pairs of lovers, I hope they can find peace
A man whose horrible actions we all hope will cease
A young me, still innocent and bright
A boy who believes there's no hope for light
I'm no poet, I've never been
But perhaps one day I'll feel seen
By people outside this skull
Where the world is cruel, bleak, and dull
