Elements

Elements

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity
"

I asked a friend what element she thought would represent her. She wrote the most beautifully painted answer, and that is what inspired me to write this poem.

"
Let me tell you the story
A tale oft' unspoken

'tis a tale of the elements
The day chaos was awoken

All around was peaceful
It began the perfect day

Not a bird chirped out of tune
Not a bumblebee did stray

Somewhere deep in the forest
A soothing chorus began

The elements, ever tranquil
Methodically danced

The wind sang serenely
And the trees did sway

A stone skipped on water
And the water did play

Then all of a sudden
The heavens lost their color

A darkness intruded
And all the world grew duller

Then come from the sky
There a light did streak

Such beauty unrivaled
Soaring 'cross the bleak

It landed in their midst
A flame of brilliant twists

The wind whispered quietly
The trees stretched to see

The stones sank down in fear
Water rippled with curiousity

There the fire did blaze
Mysterious and strange

What was its name?
All wondered at once

But none cared as much
As the water rising high

She waved and she waved
At the fire from the sky

Then the fire did laugh
At the water's wild display

"Hello," called the flame
Gentle warmth it did convey

The water clapped happily at the land
Imploring the fire to be her friend

Said the fire to the water
"Do you even know what you ask for?

You are over there
And myself over here

It would be hard to be friends
A sad reality, I fear"

But the water wasn't fazed
As she giggled up a geyser

Then closer she drew
'til she reached the warmth of Fire

The heat gave way to change
Water rose to form a cloud

"Come play with me," cried she
Now arrayed in darkened shroud

Then lightning struck the earth
And it bellowed out in protest

Rain charged forth and wouldn't stop
The sea rising up to meet each drop

The fire just watched in awe
At the spectacle that she saw

The wind joined for the tempest
The stones, they held their ground

Trees swayed in the wind
And Fire danced to the sound

T'was a glorious sight
The storm of that night

The elements all took up chorus
Their outbreak racing toward us

We huddled together in fear
As we felt our end draw near

Then almost as suddenly
As it had all begun

The storm halted entirely
As the elements had their fun

It was a blast while it lasted
Fire thought it quite the thrill

But Water soon grew weary
As she finally had her fill

"It was lovely to meet you"
Said Water to the flame

The fire crackled softly now
"Do play with me again"

"Said the fire to the water
"Do you even know what you ask for?"

That is gorgeous

So is the ending. You're doing good things over there.
