Snakes, Doors, and a Pathway to Darkness

Snakes, Doors, and a Pathway to Darkness

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

I found this path
It wasn't right
It stole me away
Took me from the light

With snakes all around
This treacherous place
I forsook my hope
As I fell from grace

I opened up doors
That I was never meant to touch
I heard warnings in my head
After I felt the demons rush

Where was I going?
Who was I now?
Was God still there with me?
Was I speeding toward Hell?

I reached for Him
But He felt all too far
Was I abandoned?
Just where was my heart?

The dreams told me things
That I didn't know
About where I was
And where I should go

The warnings were constant
They came all the time
Slowly drawing me closer
As they tugged at my mind

My eyes finally opened
As my heart regained sight
Truth was revealed
As I let in the light

"Purge away darkness
Be rid of your sin
You must purify your heart
To allow Me back in"

So I gave You my heart
And presented its key
I asked for Your aid
That You would change me

This poem by Alicia-Veracity is personable in message, vulnerable in scope, intimate in tone. The rhythm and beat are tight and well constructed. I would give this piece four bright stars!
