Variable

Variable

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

I am the variable

Inside of your textbook

I go far beyond what you see

You stare at an “X”, a “Y”, or a “Z”

But none of these are true

Representations of me

I am always changing

A soul of infinite range and

I never remain just one thing

My form is never constant

Some view me as mere nonsense

My framework breathing eternity

So if you wish to know

The truth that is within

Close your eyes and just take a breath

This spirit is felt

While never quite seen

Give it time before you start to assess

Linger and question

Hold fast and listen

Time will reveal this mystery

For who can deny

So determined a seeker

The gold or mere glitter that they seek

Author's Note

Alicia-Veracity
I was thinking about how people are often like variables in that, while you can see the outside, you can never quite tell what is inside. Furthermore, people are always changing and growing in a variety of different ways. You can't fully understand them unless you take the time to do so.
