Thinking of You

I remember the dreams

Where you had other friends

And wishing so badly

I could have been one of them

Once I did fight them

For they came at me so

Tried to humiliate me

Right in front of you

They were awful people

Not strangers to abuse

I struggled and strived

Hoping you’d see the truth

That they didn’t care

But I always did

And I always will

With no shred of regret

Another dream came

With my beautiful friend

Here you were happier

Working hard for promotion

You had this one person

A work friend to praise you

I couldn’t keep you

You had new trails to blaze through

So I let you walk off

Though I desperately wanted to cling

For just one moment you looked back

As I hid my suffering

“I’ll come back soon

Just you wait and see!”

I never saw you again

But I knew it wouldn’t be

I woke to life again

Morning light now shattering

All my hope of seeing you

Once more within the dream
