Grandfather (memories from the past)A Poem by Alicia-VeracityA void for your heart A hollowed out soul Sent for my family To regain control
My mom was naive Inviting you in My parents deceived Manipulated
You screamed in the night Tormented by these Demons you befriended Forsaking your peace
A cloud and a haze Descended on my parents Their minds were unclear As whispers did scare them
I heard whispers too A call to the darkness With logic they beckoned That I could just care less
But something in me Said that this wasn’t right I needed to care I held onto the light
Outside in the night My dad by my mom You pulled out a knife Disrupting the calm
You hoped you could kill him And take over my family In mere seconds you were pinned As they glimpsed your insanity
Still they let you stay What madness to do so? You kept up your tricks Until my uncle would undo you
A miraculous phone call A voice keeping you at bay You grumbled in frustration That you could not have your way
Thank God for His protection That He would keep Mom safe Bringing her to clarity Through the uncle who showed the way
But that was not the end of you Of course, how could it be? For you found another to torment too Who required rescuing
My mom at this point Strengthened by God’s hand Marched boldly to your door To make her demands
You launched severe threats The girl quaked in fear Mom stood her ground You realized you couldn’t beat her
For you saw in Mom’s eyes This courage you couldn’t shake It caught you off guard You backed up, now afraid
The girl came with us You cursed and you cut yourself Kicking up a fuss But we drove and didn’t turn around
I don’t regret you’re gone I never felt you cared Still, I hope you did find God So by the end you were prepared
So goodbye, my grandfather I hope, yet don’t believe That maybe God redeemed your soul And at last you did find peace
But if that is not the case Then you can be made certain You’ll get what you deserve No longer this world’s burden © 2025 Alicia-VeracityAuthor's Note
