Mercy for One Mosquito

Mercy for One Mosquito

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

Feast on my blood

You little mosquito

This time I’ll observe

I won’t disturb you

How incredible a creature

This troublesome pest

I choose to let you live

You are truly blessed

For many I’ve squished

Without thinking twice

But today is something different

Today the wonder will suffice

I watch as blood stretches

Your abdomen expands

You try to fly off

But the weight makes you re-land

What an amusing thing to see

You clumsy, drunken thing

Fattened and engorged

Yet flying with those wings

It’s funny…

Even the nuisances God made

A curse upon naughty children

By unique and profound displays

Still show His hand to the observant
