The Afterthought

The Afterthought

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

I’m fading into mist

I’m losing all vibrance

Left in the darkest

Corners of your mind

I hope to be missed

Not simply forgotten

As I wander the corridors

Of memories now boxed up

I knock at the door

You never unlock it

Ever just an afterthought

Unworthy of remembrance

I play with your spiders

And live amidst the cobwebs

When can I escape

And be seen once again?

Why do I wait here

As I play pretend?

This desire to be loved

This dusty, endless hope

Maybe one day you’ll remember

And I can cease to be a ghost
