What Shall I Say

What Shall I Say

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

You ask that I speak them

The words I want to say

But somehow I cannot

So I turn and look away

How can I tell you

That I want to reach out

To cling and to hold you

Even now, I feel us slipping

Time, it never holds still

And even now

In these precious moments

I’m losing you again

I wish I could stay longer

And take it all slow

Savor my moments

Until the time that I go

There’s never enough time

I can never be satisfied

There is always more you

That I feel I might not find

What do I want?

I really don’t know

Maybe I’m just broken

Somewhere deep within my soul

You see your energy dark, dirty, turbulent?

But when I look at you

All I see is the hidden person

The girl that I love

You

It is only you

Not the broken parts

Not the mistakes

Nor the scattered scars

You

You and only you

You, the gem that hides

Deep within the mountain

A priceless treasure

In a world littered with darkness

And I’m so afraid

So deeply afraid

Because I don’t want to lose

Someone who holds

Such irreplaceable value

I don’t want to lose you

I hope it’s not too much

All of these words

Still, I felt and explanation

For yesterday was deserved

You know that I love you

No doubts in my mind

I’m sorry if it’s too much

That I’m holding on so tight

You really mean the world to me

I’m so scared you don’t believe it

So tell me how to show you

In a way you can receive it

Truly you are a beauty

A prize to behold

You deserve to be treasured

Never left in the cold

I hope you can believe that

Because it really is the truth

And I know that it’s what God sees

When He turns and looks at you
