Once

Once

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

A mystery

In the silence

Where the stillness

Breaks a soul

No words

Ever resound

Yet there’s a presence

No one beholds

Merciful

Like a light

In a world

Brimming with dark

Gentle

Imperceptible

That gaze

That lingers quietly

Comfort

As tears flow

Relentless

As the river

Who

Is the One

That sees me

As I am?

The whisper of hope

When the darkness envelops

The tether that beckons

To hold on just a little longer

Who

Is the voice

When silence

Speaks volumes?

Where the questions

Are met with questions

Bearing answers

Unperceived

When hearts

Are blinded with desire

Until the moment of release

Where words fall and break

The shattering of such

Leaving us

With the revelation

Of something larger

Something beyond

Our feeble minds

Our worldly wisdom

Something “foolish”

And yet

It is undeniable

This strange truth

Elusive wisdom that it is

But who will stop

To listen to the silence?

To hear the words

Spoken directly to the heart

This existence…

We all know this presence

Felt its verity melt into our souls

When we truly listened

Once...
