I Won't

I Won't

A Poem by Alicia-Veracity

I asked

You laughed

I kept solemn

You wanted to play

Then silence caught me

And I turned to walk away

But you couldn't let me

Catching my wrist, so I'd stay

So I turned back to see

Catching sight of a sorrow

Held deeply, despised

A verity you wanted hidden

Seeping from your falling eyes

You spoke truth this once

Instead of giggling lies

That mocking mask you wear

To keep yourself from all the crying

Your eyes locked onto mine

Before falling to the floor

Your lips, unfurled, despondent

As you spoke with unexpected candor

"Don't give up on me..."

The words that broke my heart

How could I leave you now?

When you finally unveiled that spark?

Your face cupped in my hands

My kiss upon your forehead

"I won't," proclaimed with passion

For I'll love you to the end
