Ending

a goodbye?

Never did I imagine what
I was about to take into my
hands or even consider.

What I thought I had time
to do, has only proven me
wrong for I have lost you.

What we could always finish
is now not even available for
our time together has taken
us nowhere.

I never thought I'd say this, but
what time we had has become
no more.

Author's Note

In the third stanza, last two lines, should there be a change in words? "our time together has taken us nowhere" does it fit with the rest of the poem?
