Medusa's Tea

Greek mythology fascinates me. Medusa was actually a beautiful woman, until Poseidon showed her love in Athena's temple. The goddess was angered and punished Medusa by turning her into a monster.

Delicate satin drapes her elbows

Gracious Helious arouses a fire

in her silenced, parasitic heart.

Timid are her scorpion eyes

Not gracing Poseidon's seas

with luscious avocado green.

Sins of intimacy are shed

From her fallible, loose skin

delightfully scorched by Athena

With dawn, envy is paralyzed.

Past lovers modified to nutrients,

Left solemnly to swim in her tea.

I love this poem! I love the Greek mythology imagery and the way you almost humanized Medusa, a woman with passion and sensibilities. I particularly like the details that you included (satin drapes, silenced heart, timid eyes)... it's great! I too am fascinated with Greek mythology; so much material for great writing! Just like you did in this poem!
