Dear Katie (song)A Poem by AllyMarieKatie Prine, ladies and gentlemen. If I could I'd ride my bike the 2,000 miles to where you sleep tonight. I'd tap on your window, and you'd be surprised. And we'd laugh and we'd cry and time would fly. Then when morning comes I'd say goodbye, But on your dresser I'd leave a note that says:
Dear Katie, no matter how far this life tears us apart. No one can ever take your place inside this tattered heart of mine. Oh baby, you already know I hate that you had to go. But I just wanna let you know. Oh. I'll be dreaming of you every night till you come back home.
My mother says I need to concentrate on what's ahead. My brother thinks I seem distracted, but I didn't hear the words he said. 'Cause what they don't know is what they can't see; It's this daydream of you and me that's replaying behind my eyes.
Dear Katie, no matter how far this life tears us apart. No one can ever take your place inside this tattered heart of mine. Oh baby, you already know I hate that you had to go. But I just wanna let you know. Oh. I'll be dreaming of you every night till you come back home.
And there's a possibility that I'm going crazy. But the hope that I'll see you again is the only thing Holding on to my sanity...
Dear Katie, no matter how far this life tears us apart. No one can ever take your place inside this tattered heart of mine. Oh baby, you already know I hate that you had to go. But I just wanna let you know. Oh. I'll be dreaming of you every night till you come back home. I'll be dreaming of you every night till you come back home.
