Return from Slumber

Return from Slumber

A Poem by Alzalaus

And then one day, it all stood still......

The flashing lights and magic dances,
The blasting music and daylight trances,
The floating bubbles and glowing stanzas,
All the mystics and their pandas!

In awe I looked around,
The souls departed, no longer bound.
There were no longer symphonies,
It was like the Treaty of Versailles.

The Carnival had run its course,
The last Jongleur his voice so hoarse,
The knights and wizards counterforce,
All the while I sang my song of a dorse.

I wish so hard that I might, strum the string into the night.

The dream unravels and blooms to life,
The darkened room becomes so bright,
The monsters slink off into night,
And I alone sit awake in spite.

The Minotaurs and Banshees wailed,
The colored glass and flags that trailed,
In streams of light of rainbow scales,
As I awake into dreary veil.

The dreams of yore that did once haunt me,
Breathe life anew into my written vaunting,
Poetry a second skin once daunting,
Now bears the weight of greatness still wanting.
