The American DreamA Poem by MGfunKFlowetry of my perceptionIt's true that they say money makes the world wrong But listen in and see just how rediculous that sounds It's only true because we choose to let ourselves believe it It's only true because we've chose to let ourselves be it.
We let greed and selfishness take over our souls We let the earth decay into a giant black hole and the worst part is, is that we're not even trying To reach the light from the dark from the tunnel we're inside of.
It seems that our society needs violence just to function Can you blame me for complaining about the human destruction? We as people can't differ from what's fake and reality We've forgotten all our morals, and our common humanity We smile to your face, and then stab you in the back We laugh and degrade you if you have intellegance we lack.
By we, I mean you, me him, and her, it's everybody's fault for this God forsaken world And when we rest our heads we look to God and we pray, for a better tomorrow We ask forgiveness for today:
"Please help me Lord, for I have sinned, I've lied and I've cheated, I hurt others to win. I think about me before anybody else, but I just want a chance at that good, GREEN wealth! I want to be rich, You know I want to be respected, and all my insecurities no body will suspect it or detect it, because I don't reflect it...And listen to me Jesus, I know this all sounds bad, But if they all could see what I truly am...I'd live to nothing more than the common decent man...".
The American Dream means looking out for yourself Survival of the fittest is the coldest state of health Deep down I know we know what we really have to do But no one wants the burden of truly caring...Not me, Not you. So lets all pretend that we've been ignorant to what's been dealt And once again, let history repeat itself. © 2008 MGfunKAuthor's Note
