Behind My EyesA Poem by AmberMorganA VillanelleInstead of light that testifies, I have found a sickening pleasure In the darkness behind my eyes. I notice that it occupies Every moment of my leisure. Against it the light testifies. I have set out to analyze What the devil calls his treasure, In the darkness behind my eyes. I have rested in those sweet lies. Distraction as countermeasure, Against the light that testifies. I have struggled in compromise Only to find more displeasure With the darkness behind my eyes. I have found that shame magnifies All that I have mourned as impure In the darkness behind my eyes. Against it the light testifies.
