(F)(a)ll(i)ng in (L)ove

A Poem by Amber V. Black

I’d like to think I fell for you
somewhere between when you cut your hair,
and before I learned the word ‘No.’

It wasn’t that I felt complete
the first time you laid in bed with me.

more unWelcome.

It wasn’t that my name felt safe

in your mouth;

It’s just that I didn’t want to tell you
I hate being called “nik.”
