We've both been Let Down before

We've both been Let Down before

A Poem by Amber V. Black

Finding someone to
run along side with you through the storm
is not so much romantic,
as a game of strategy.

Finding a perfect balance
of flaws, and butterflies
will sometimes leave you crying on your bed.

The problem with making
a home, made out of smoke
is how easily it can disappear.

But if I can disappear with you,
smoke is the only place I want to call home.

I laid on your chest
and traced the constellations
I imagined from your bones.

Most of the night was a blur,
besides the time i spent in your arms
all I can remember if your mouth on mine,
on my neck,
and your warm breath trailing into my mind,
intoxicating me
(Hunny, alcohol has nothing on you.)

I traced your body,
you are perfection,
and I'm still waiting for you to realize my flaws.

Even two days after,
all I feel are your big hands encompassing my body,
your warm smile after a kiss,
your beautiful eyes looking up at me.

Your eyes are the sweetest eyes I have ever seen,
both dark and friendly,
both strong and gentle.

For once I am experiencing passion,
not lust
and the past is surely dead,
because you what I want to fill my days with,
good and bad.
