Burnt by the fire

Some are burned in the fire,

Lost to it.

Found lying amongst the ashes in the aftermath,

Charred and broken never the same

Swallowed up by every last flame.

 

Others are born of the fire,

Found within it.

They may have been burned before,

But they swallowed it down

Letting the flames reside in their gut.

Building them up ember by ember,

Until they’re a blazing inferno,

A firestorm,

A conflagration.

Leaving others in their path,

To be burned by their incandescent wrath.
