Sum Of Our Parts

Sum Of Our Parts

A Poem by E.J. Waling

We are so different, but we’re so much alike.
We all look different, but we all look the same.
We all think alike, but we believe differently.
Evil lives on earth but the divine is in play.
We all love our children, but we kill our enemies.
We all live on a speck, but we are so far apart.
We love each other, but we hate each other.
We believe in the apocalypse, but we believe in the future.
Many are happy, but many are sad.
Many have died, but many still live.
The living shape the future, but the dead leave a mark.
Most were never born!
Humanity is a writhing organism inexorably moving forward.
To what end?
Nobody knows, but we are more than the sum of our parts!
We are all one whole!
