Tentacles

Tentacles

A Poem by E.J. Waling

Tentacles.
Circling.
Squeezing.
Slowly
at first.
Carefully.
Moving
carefully.
Prey
unsuspecting.
Slowly being
ensnared.
Slowly being
controlled.
Global reach.
Tentacles
encircling
the globe.
Nowhere
unobtainable.
Nowhere
out of
range.
Out of
reach
of the
tentacles.
Caressing
the mind
penetrating
the brain.
Corrupting
the soul.
Nowhere
to hide.
Tentacles
overhead,
underground.
Cyberspace
the creature
resides.
Crushing
free will.
Tentacles
networked.
Planetary
web of
control.
Infrastructure
in place.
Ultimate
control.
Zombies
mindless
zombies.
Spoon fed.
Garbage in.
Garbage out.
The few
controlling
the many
has always
been
humanities
way.
Now, however,
on a global
scale.

The pervasiveness of the computer has enabled that which is described in this offering. To all things in this realm there is a polarity. As the computer has enabled great good, so does it also have the capacity for great evil. But in truth, it is only a machine; good and evil reside only in us.

Wow awesome poem, John. The formatting is so clever and fits the theme to perfection. And it truly speaks to societies gullibility to be manipulated by those in power. Spoon feeding the garbage of propaganda in our media to keep people incurious and pliable to misinformation. This is truly haunting. Well done my friend well done.
