Gift

Gift

A Poem by E.J. Waling

Gift.
Existence.
Personal
existence,
inexplicable
gift.
Life.
Sentience.
Personal
understanding.
Infinite
void.
No sign
of life
beyond
earth.
Alone.
Possibly
only earth.
Yet,
here we
sit.
Moment.
Brief
moment.
Awe, pure
awe.
All that
occurred
for this
smudge
of personal
existence.
This
moment.
Stars born,
die.
Elements
created.
Planets
coalesce.
Life.
Evolution.
Billions
of years.
Countless
iterations
of life.
Thousands
of
generations.
Before.
All that
had to
come
together
before
you.
Creation
made!
Awe!
What a
trip!
