As a lily

As a lily

A Poem by Sapphus

If I'm but one lily left in my prairie
I must sway untill the wind wants me to and I must dance untill the Laurentian Autumn tells me I must become a red gold wing flying into the silence .

A very soulful poem. Its true about the inevitable human end but how we go is beautiful.

Thank you Arun...
This is beautiful description. I saw the life of that Lily unfold before my eyes and even in its final red gold moments when it took flight, it will be remembered. Memorable brevity Sapphus.

Thank you Chris.
I like the simplicity of this lily. It does feel like a brushstroke, painting a small part of your consciousness in words for us all to 'see' (read).

My pleasure sir
Hi Sapphus, There is a definite rhythm, a beat, to poetry. The more brief the poem, the louder and slower the beat..
As if we are making love...beat .... beat .... beat....building toward
The cresendo with the most rapid beat of the heart involved at the sight of such beauty, here, Laurentian Autumn ...the beat quickens with the red gold wing flying and it carries us into the rapid beat....fading...slowing as we disappear..."into the silence"...
Amazing what one lily can inspire.

Thank you Kelly....
Geez, this is such a perfect painting in words.
" a red gold wing flying into the silence"---
What an ending for that lily....but that lily must know how much she was appreciated.

Sapphus, in my town in Vietnam we use nature strongly to speak of life and this is good.
