Burden of Thoughts

Burden of Thoughts

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

Perhaps we have never pondered over
the possibility that ,
a deceased human being could possess humanity
(although very cold) ;
or it might well contain more warmth
than the ones breathing till date.
Some of the questions about the
mortal beings would certainly
become immortal, gradually.
Had the cognitive mind , along with the
wise soul been destroyed
as soon as a man was dead ,
Libraries wouldn't have wasted racks
stuffed with tons of paper,
explaining the ' Theory of Rebirth' !
The hippo-campus would have enjoyed
a lot more free time with a lesser
number of clamour, 'isms' and 'philosophies' around.

Powerful stuff indeed. I love the first stanza, and the idea of possessing humanity though very cold. It's a unique way of looking at it. I think we all think about these things at some point through our lives, but it takes a poet to present them almost in 3-D, in a way that "ticks off the possibilities; opens all doors" (Jim Morrison). Great work on this one :)

Libraries where thoughts live on. Very nice. It also makes one ponder if we are reborn to we bring some of knowledge with us to this new existence.

You're rocking it.
An interesting take on the dying human condition which relates to how we've lived before & after death even on paper. :) Great work. An intriguing read. :)
