Sometimes Chocolate cake is less confusing than Devil's Food . I mean it. Just go shred some Macadamia nuts, mix in some Dove dark chocolate bits, Hershey's Cocoa, some Land o'Lakes butter, sweet cream milk, Pillsbury's Best, a touch of Crisco, a couple of farmer's market fresh eggs, a dash of real vanilla (go figure?). Hand stir with a FORK - no mixer bull - for a coupla minutes. Pour into a Bundt pan and bake for 47 minutes... my oven doesn't do 45.
When its done - A lil powdered sugar mixed with butter... glaze the top. And voila` - sit there and listen to all those voices inside telling you "NO!...NO!... " as you slowly and with full malice of forethought chew your way through a SLAB of "Goodness" and afterward stare with longing at that lil ice-chiped full glass of milk awaiting your pleasure.
See - its so not confusing at all when you take life that way...
SLAB OF GOODNESS......this is what you and this poem are.

true indeed, I'm not a chocolate ice cream kinda guy, but love chocolate cake over vanilla any day, this sound great on a day like today, hand over a slice buddy...
Surrendering to the chocolate, this sounds delicious, I am going to save this recipe for the next time I need a guilty pleasure to make me feel better about life in general.

...now I want cake. And nothing else matters. I see what you mean. Everything just...stops...when the oven is going and there is a warm sweet treat inside. The clock is merely an instrument to gauge how much time remains before the timer goes off. The only anxiety felt is whether or not it will rise properly; whether or not it will turn out moist; whether or not the top will burn. Whoever stopped to pay a bill or watch the news or fume over some perceived wrong-doing with cake in the oven? Cake. And nothing else matters.
Well done.
